Jefferson Fire Co. No. 1 Members to Embark
on a Climb for Compassion
25 Firefighters to Climb New Hampshire's Mount Washington
Efforts will raise money for FDNY UFA Widow's and Children's Fund
On August 23, 24 and 25th, 2002, twenty
five North Jersey firefighters and friends will undertake the challenge of
climbing the 6,288 ft. Mount
Washington in New Hampshire.
This “Climb for Compassion” is part of these
firefighters’ efforts to raise money to support the families of brother
and sister firefighters lost in the events of September 11, 2001. All
money raised will be donated to the Uniformed Firefighters Association
Widows and Children Fund. The fund supports the families of all FDNY
members lost in the line of duty.
Each participating climber will be actively seeking
donations to support his or her efforts in ascending the mountain.
Donations of any amount, in the form of a flat donation will be gladly
accepted.
The climb is organized by Harry Western, member of
Jefferson Township Fire Company No. 1 and a daytime firefighter with
Rutherford Engine Co. 2. Climbers represent several fire departments,
including: Jefferson Twp. Fire Co. No. 1, Rutherford Eng. Co. 2,
Ogdensburg Fire Dept., and Wayne Twp Fire Co. No. 4. Additional climbers
are still being sought. Anyone interested in climbing, making a donation,
or seeking any additional information is highly encouraged to contact
Harry Western at (973) 208-6983.
Please consider supporting these men and
women in this very worthwhile and challenging venture.
